Methodology

How the intelligence is built

A transparent look at how entities are modelled, how connections are formed, and how the innovation score and rankings are computed.

The entity graph

Everything in CompGenome is an entity — companies, people, models, apps, investors, research papers, patents, awards, events and more. Entities are joined by typed relationships (founded by, invested in, powered by, competes with, partners with, and others), each with its own confidence and provenance.

The innovation score

A company's innovation score is a composite index on a 0–100 scale, derived from signals already present in the graph rather than opinion.

  • Patents connected to the company.
  • Connected research and its citation weight.
  • Products and apps shipped.
  • Breadth of technology and model adoption.
  • A verification bonus for confirmed profiles.

Rankings

Rankings are assembled from scored, verified entities within a category. Positions reflect the evidence in the graph at the time of publication and are recomputed as the underlying data changes.

Freshness

Profiles are marked with a last-updated timestamp. The breaking-intelligence ticker surfaces the most recently changed entities so you can see the graph moving in real time.
